The Legend of Slappy McDougall: The Boy with the Bugle by Nathaniel Sojourner Turner

"The Legend of Slappy McDougall: The Boy with the Bugle" is about a kid named Eric Slapton-McDougall III (affectionately nicknamed "Slappy"). His peers view him as "different" because he's shy and keeps to himself. However, after being teased by a bully about the object that he holds most dear to him, everyone soon finds out about Slappy's hidden talent.

Slappy displays resilience by rising to the occasion in order to tranquilize the mean-spirited intent of the bully of Lincoln School. He conquers his inner bully (stage fright) as well. Slappy takes what was intended to be an embarrassing situation and uses it as a platform to display his incredible talent, all while displaying a virtuous sense of humility in triumph. The playground will never be the same and neither will Eric Slapton-McDougall III.
